Celebrity involvement attracts attention, but legal reporting requires precise labels. A person called as a witness is not thereby an accused. A scheduled hearing is not proof that testimony occurred. And a name circulating in a legal controversy is not itself evidence of culpability.

The entertainment desk’s responsibility is to report public events without turning procedural appearances into insinuation. The next hearing should be reported on the basis of the court record and reliable contemporary reporting.

According to a 2 November news report, a Delhi court issued fresh summons requiring Nora Fatehi to appear on 6 November as a prosecution witness in the alleged ₹200-crore extortion case linked to Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Her counsel sought exemption from the scheduled appearance, and the court expressed displeasure.

The crucial distinction is procedural. A prosecution witness is not, by that description, a person convicted of an offence or necessarily accused of the offence being tried. Headlines that collapse those categories mislead readers and may unfairly damage reputations.

Celebrity coverage should explain the court order and the next hearing without treating an appearance as proof of wrongdoing. The case involves serious allegations against others, but the actor’s legal status must be stated precisely.
